Samsung has been pushing the boundaries of Android flagship hardware for years, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra represents the brand’s most ambitious effort yet. With a 200MP primary camera, the latest Snapdragon 9 Elite chip, and a massive 6000mAh battery, this phone has the spec sheet of a powerhouse. But does it deliver in real-world use?
We spent two weeks with the S26 Ultra as our daily driver, testing it across photography, gaming, battery life, and everyday productivity. Here is our verdict.
Design & Build
The S26 Ultra is unmistakably a Samsung phone. The titanium frame — borrowed from the design language Samsung introduced with the S24 Ultra — feels premium in hand without being slippery. At 228g it is heavy, but the weight distribution is well managed and it never felt uncomfortable over long sessions.
The 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display is stunning. Samsung’s panel technology continues to lead the industry — peak brightness hits 2600 nits, colours are accurate without being oversaturated, and the 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate handles everything from scrolling social media to watching HDR video with ease.
Camera System
The headline feature is the 200MP primary sensor, and it delivers. Daylight shots are exceptional — detail retention is remarkable, dynamic range is class-leading, and the AI processing is finally at a point where it enhances rather than over-processes. Night mode has improved significantly over the S25 Ultra, though Google’s Pixel 10 Pro still has the edge in very low light.
The 50MP 5x telephoto is the real star of the camera array. Shots at 5x are almost indistinguishable from the primary camera in good light, and Space Zoom up to 100x remains a party trick that occasionally produces genuinely useful results.
Performance & Battery
The Snapdragon 9 Elite is the fastest mobile chip we have tested. Whether you are gaming, editing 4K video, or juggling 20 browser tabs, the S26 Ultra does not break a sweat. Thermal management has improved significantly — sustained performance under load is better than any previous Samsung flagship.
Battery life is exceptional. In our mixed use testing — several hours of screen time, photography, navigation, and streaming — we consistently finished the day with 30–40% remaining. The 45W wired charging is fast enough for a full charge in just over an hour.
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the best Android phone we have tested. It is not perfect — the price is steep, One UI continues to feel bloated in places, and the camera still does not match Pixel 10 Pro at night. But for the sheer breadth of what it does well, nothing else comes close. If you want the best Android can offer and your budget stretches to it, this is the phone to buy.
